Junior Accountant

REPORTS TO:  Controller

The position is responsible for maintaining and reconciling accounts; preparing reports; providing support to the financial department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Posts and processes journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.

·       Updates accounts receivable and issues invoices.

·       Updates accounts payable and performs reconciliations.

·       Assists in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.

·       Assists with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned.

·       Updates financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.

·       Prepares and submits weekly/monthly reports, such as bank reconciliation and cash reports.

·       Assists with other accounting projects.

·       Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Computer skills required: Accounting Software (Sage 50 US preferably or Equivalent) and Payroll Systems.

·       Other skills required:

o   Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

o   Great attention to detail.

o   Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.

o   Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
